Mar, 4, 2022|Categories: Family Resources, Health & Safety|

March 7, 2022

Dear Compass parents,

It’s hard to believe we’re already approaching spring break – I know we’re all looking forward to a week of rest and recharging. After that, it’s back to work to finish this year strong!

Many of you are likely aware that Memphis-Shelby County Schools has lifted its indoor mask mandate, in alignment with guidance from the CDC and Shelby County Health Department (SCHD). Masks are now recommended but optional for their students and employees. Compass Community Schools will follow suit – beginning Monday, March 28, masks will be recommended but optional for our students, faculty, and staff. Our leadership team has chosen March 28 as the start date because it will allow us one week (March 21-25) of COVID testing post-spring break […]

Compass Families,

Happy New Year! As we welcome students back into our classrooms after a well-deserved winter break, our highest priority continues to be the health and safety of our Compass community. To this end, our safety protocols will remain intact as we head into the spring semester – we are taking precautions to fight COVID on every front through vaccinations, regular COVID testing at every Compass campus, social distancing measures, hand washing and mask wearing!

We know that nothing is more important to you than keeping your children in school – learning in healthy and safe environments. Families across the city are doing all they can to keep communities safe from the Omicron variant:

Free Covid Testing from Poplar Healthcare

Sep, 1, 2021|Categories: COVID Updates, Family Resources|

Dear Compass Families:

Compass Community Schools is proud to partner with Poplar Healthcare to provide free COVID-19 testing on-site to our school communities!

With case counts rising, we strongly encourage all of our students to take advantage of this testing.  One way for us to keep everyone safe is for us to catch any asymptomatic cases early, and testing is the best way for that to happen.

A link to the consent form can be found at: https://hipaa.jotform.com/poplarhealthcare/SCS-patient-auth-consent

This online form is in English by default but you can change the language to Spanish in the top right corner. If you would prefer a paper form, it is attached in both English and Spanish.  If you are using the paper form, your child must bring a signed copy of this […]

Letter from Compass E.D. Kristi Baird-Start of School, Safety Protocols

Jul, 16, 2021|Categories: COVID Updates, Education, Learning Resources|

Dear Compass Families,

I hope you’ve enjoyed a restful and fun summer break. We are looking forward to welcoming students back to our school buildings for the 2021-22 school year next week on Wednesday, July 21.  We can’t wait to see all of their smiling faces! Thank you for entrusting us with your child and allowing us to prepare them for lifelong success.

As all students return to an in-person learning environment, we remain committed to the safety of our students, faculty and staff. Therefore, we will continue implementing COVID-19 safety procedures until further notice, including requiring social distancing measures; encouraging good hygiene practices; and regularly disinfecting our school buildings.

While the CDC recently loosened its mask guidelines, we decided to maintain our mask requirement for students, teachers […]
