Meet the Lions.

Don’t count the days. Make the days count!

Compass Hickory Hill offers a welcoming learning environment in a community setting where everyone is family. Every teacher knows every student’s name, and even the small things catch our attention. Don’t be surprised if a teacher notices you forgot your glasses, got a haircut, or are wearing new shoes! Our passion is the students we serve. We focus on providing excellent teaching, modeling strong moral character, and opportunities for growth to transform them into responsible students and leaders.

Dear Compass Hickory-Hill Students and Families,

Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year at Compass-Hickory Hill! Whether you are new to our school community or you are returning, I look forward to working with you as a partner in your child’s education.

At Compass-Hickory Hill, we focus on academic growth, together with the development of the whole child. We also strive to provide opportunities for our students to demonstrate the core values of respect, wisdom, courage, and servant leadership every school day.

Our motto at Compass-Hickory Hill is “don’t count the days; make the days count.” We believe that every day holds new opportunities for our students to learn, build relationships, and be their best selves. This school year, our dedicated team of educators will provide engaging and rigorous learning opportunities focused on supporting academic growth, while also implementing data-based instruction, targeted intervention programs to meet students where they are, and opportunities for our students to begin to explore their future career paths. Our students will have access to counseling services when appropriate, community-building and social-emotional learning activities based on the Responsive Classroom approach, restorative discipline practices, and service learning activities in the local community.

As always, my door is open and I welcome you to our campus. Please feel free to contact me via email at the email address below or call the office to make an appointment to speak with me to discuss any ideas you feel will make this year great!

I thank you for entrusting us with the magnificent responsibility of partnering with you in your child’s education.

Teachers who care

Compass Hickory Hill is a small school located in the heart of the Hickory Hill community. We pride ourselves on the fact that our best advertisement is “word of mouth” from our current families. Our families are very important to us because they trust us with the awesome responsibility of helping to educate their child. We believe that parents are the first educators of their children, and collaborating with parents is pivotal for students to meet their academic, social & emotional, and physical goals. Communication with our families is a priority with weekly updates through ‘Tuesday Notes,’ and the Monthly Mane newsletter published on the last Friday of each month. We also always encourage parents to communicate with their child’s teachers with any questions or concerns that they may have. The office staff and administration are always available to support our families.

For grades 5-8, we offer Wit & Wisdom English, Ready Math, iScience and McGraw Hill Social Studies. All grades participate in Spark P.E. and Flex Art.

Our Team

Passion for Teaching

Compass teachers know their content backwards and forwards and are passionate about preparing Memphis youth academically and in character for college and lifelong success. Our teachers enjoy and benefit from our intentionally small school settings, which will help them to develop trusting, positive relationships with their students and colleagues.

Service Learning

In the Community

Service-learning projects provide students with opportunities to apply newly learned knowledge and skills in real-world contexts, further cementing their understanding and giving their academic learning relevant purposes. Service learning serves as the intersection of our academic excellence and values-based character education pillars—bringing content, concepts, and skills gleaned from both to life through hands-on, tangible experiences.
