Compass-Midtown is committed to preparing all students to become positive agents of change in their communities through academic excellence, values-based education, and our service learning program. With the help of our community partners, the service-learning program at Compass-Midtown embodies our overall mission and vision and provides students with abundant opportunities to apply newly learned knowledge and skills to real-world contexts, further cementing their understanding and giving their academic learning purpose beyond the classroom walls.

Hello my Compass-Binghampton Family, 

“Compass Binghampton is small enough to become “family,” but diverse enough to introduce students to a variety of cultures from around the world.”

I am Barbara Asemota. I am extremely excited to become your school leader and join in the success of Compass Binghampton.  I have been in the field of educating children for 26 years, and each year I have learned and grown from my experiences with students, educators, staff, and parents.  I do not expect this year to be any different. I am ready to learn and lead.  

We are the WARRIORS!! With a warrior mindset, we do not quit! We do whatever it takes to complete the mission and obtain the goal.  As Forbes said, “it means we are willing to invest in as many hours necessary to learn and understand what it means to be a student, an educator, an aide, a counselor, an instructional leader. Our goal this year is that WE (students, parents, educators, aides, counselor, secretary, custodial, everyone) will become WARRIOR STRONG! We won’t quit but will work TOGETHER to overcome challenges and adversities.  Together we will utilize all our strengths while refining our weaknesses to be the best version of ourselves and the school community. 

Compass, Binghampton is:  COMPASSionate, Optimistic, Motivated, Passionate, Accountable, Serve Others, and Students-first. 

So, I send greetings to my new Compass-Binghamton family.  I am truly humbled and blessed to serve in this capacity.  I believe together we can achieve a Warrior Mindset and conquer all challenges Together!!

95% Graduation Rate

Compass-Midtown currently has a high school graduation rate of 95%. With $1,156,565 in scholarships awarded, the Class of 2022 also boasts a 73% college/trade school/military acceptance rate. The remaining students have plans to enter the workforce directly. Compass-Midtown offers various classes to not only meet Tennessee Graduation requirements but also support students in preparing for college and lifelong success. Compass-Midtown courses range from High School General Education Honors Courses, Dual Enrollment, and various high school electives.

Beyond the Classroom

Compass-Midtown offers a structured weekly student social-Emotional Learning, Value-Based Character Education, and Service Learning structure entitled, " Compass-Midtown Houses" that is unique to the students enrolled at Compass Midtown. Students are engaged in weekly group meeting sessions instructed by Compass Midtown faculty that support the whole child and support positive student culture.

Curriculum

Our goal is to equip students with the tools they need for success in college, and beyond. As a charter school, we have the freedom to select a curriculum that allows us to do just that. We utilize Carnegie Math, Study Sync for English and McGraw Hill for Science and Social Studies.

We believe a world-class education is more than just academics. That is why we make sure extracurricular activities are available to all of our students. We offer volleyball for girls, track & field & cross country for boys & girls, and basketball and soccer for boys.

Compass teachers know their content backward and forwards and are passionate about preparing Memphis youth academically and in character for college and lifelong success. Our teachers enjoy and benefit from our intentionally small school settings, which will help them to develop trusting, positive relationships with their students and colleagues.
