A School Home
Our schools are intentionally small to foster a family environment where teachers can focus on the individual child. More days in school and longer school days ensure better retention and improved academic achievement. If you are looking for a school home to carry your child from kindergarten through twelfth grade that focuses on academic excellence and character development, Compass is the place for you.
Teachers Who Care
Compass teachers know their content backward and forward and are passionate about preparing Memphis youth academically and in character for college and lifelong success. Our teachers enjoy and benefit from our intentionally small school settings, which help them develop trusting, positive relationships with their students and colleagues.
Service Learning
Service learning serves as the intersect between our academic excellence and values-based character education pillars—bringing content, concepts, and skills gleaned from both to life through hands-on, tangible experiences. While immersed in service-learning projects, students will experience the fulfillment of giving back to their communities and helping others. Service-learning projects also provide students with opportunities to apply newly learned knowledge and skills in real-world contexts, further cementing their understanding and giving their academic learning relevant purposes. This program is a HUGE part of Compass life and sets us apart from other educational options.
We have developed partnerships with nonprofit agencies focused on social services and environmental care. We want to empower our students to recognize needs in our communities, identify ways they can serve, and become engaged as change agents. Our students spend the school year learning about their partnering nonprofit, developing a relationship with it through quarterly touchpoints, and ultimately completing an intensive service-learning project to benefit it. The purpose of this program is to promote collaborative initiatives to extend services and build a healthy community. In doing so, we are supporting our students to become agents of change in their communities.
