New Certificate Program Opens Doors for Multilingual Students

For many Memphis students, speaking two languages is simply a way of life. Now, for the first time in Tennessee, a Memphis charter school and local community college are turning that everyday skill into a college credential and career. Compass Community Schools Midtown campus and Southwest Tennessee Community College have partnered to launch a Spanish translation certificate program for high schoolers, giving students college credit, professional certification, and a direct pathway into high-demand careers in healthcare, law, education, and business. Joining us in-studio to talk more about that are Sondra Morris from Compass Community Schools and Jose da Silva from Southwest Tennessee Community College.
